Jets lose horribly to the Denver Broncos

Leave it to the New York Jets to bring us back to reality and by reality I mean their same old ways where they’ll win an impressive game and break our hearts the next. This was one of those games as they lose to the Denver Broncos by a score of 23-0, this was the first time since 2014 that they have been shutout by an opponent and they didn’t come to play at all. Ray Lucas during the post game show on SNY said “ What time do the Jets play?” meaning that this wasn’t the same team that beat the Kansa City Chiefs last week. Offense struggled and Josh McCown got hurt, which meant that Petty came in but couldn’t spark anything up and Morris Claiborne probably had the worst game of his career. That being said here are some grades I give to the New York Jets:

Offensively this was just an awful performance, they only racked up 100 total yards through four quarters, McCown went 6/12 for 46 yards a interception and a fumble before breaking his hand, then Petty came in and didn’t do much either as he went 2/9 for 14 yards. Petty missed a lot of open receivers, and Morton showed no confidence in him at all. Powell carried the ball 13 times for 35 yards and both Anderson and Kearse were shut down after both having 100 yard games the previous week. I give the offense an F.

The defense couldn’t get off the field against a Broncos team who had Trevor Sieman under center, and Thomas had 8 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown. Like I said, it was Claiborne’s worst game in his career I believe. The offense had a hard time staying off the field and the defense couldn’t get off the field. The Broncos took the energy right out of this team as quickly as losing your breath in that altitude. I grade the defense a D-

The Jets schedule isn’t going to get any easier as they will be taking on the New Orleans Saints next week in the SuperDome, and it looks like we are going to see what Bryce Petty can do for the rest of the season as McCown hurt his non throwing arm and the Jets playoff chances look to be finished but hey they were supposed to tank anyway. This was a young team that really surpassed all expectations and this will be a learning experience for them as they move forward.
