Going into this game the Jets were 14 point underdogs going into this week 2 matchup against the Oakland Raiders and let’s just say they held up to their end of the bargain as the Jets for the second week in a row got lit up on both sides of the ball. In the first half of the game, the Jets stayed right with them but failed to make any adjustments in the second and the game got out of reach fast as the big plays hurt them again. The offense looked a little better today as Josh McCown threw for 166 yard and 2 TDs and Jermaine Kearse caught 2 TDs as he was the bright spot of this team. The offensive line still couldn’t get the run game going and caused 3 and a half sacks.
The main story was the defense and special teams, the defense couldn’t get anything done as they couldn’t even get to Carr and he was able to torch the defense throwing for 230 yards and 3 TD’s (all of them to Michael Crabtree). The running game for the Raiders were able to as they ran for a combined total of 180 yards and 3 TD’s as well. The special teams were awful again, Raymond fumbled the ball on a punt return before halftime and gave the ball back to the Raiders and eventually went up 21 to 10.
If I had to characterize this game, I would say that it was a backyard football game for the Raiders as they just walked all over the Jets. This is just frustrating as a fan because well…. It’s the New York Jets and I understand what they are trying to do because I and a bunch of fans want a long term success but this is just a pathetic game.
